What We Know (all S6, from Visenne de Tarrand)
- Leader of the party that escorted Isabel d’Allais from the West to Hazad.
- She was closest to Jehan Dalet, the Owl’s knight commander — i.e. this was the commander’s trusted officer, personally entrusted with the commander’s daughter.
- Slain in the Halwa fight with the Eagle Knights.
- Visenne’s assessment: “the one person who might have had the most information.”
Why She Matters
The party spent Sessions 4 and 5 hunting for the Owl knights the Eagle captured, on the theory that they might be the only Owl knights the Order of the Phoenix never reached — the only direct witnesses left anywhere. They found two, and both are junior to the errand. The one who knew died in the fight that made them findable.
Speculation
She was the commander’s confidante and she was in Halwa — the city nearest sanctum #1, eighteen months after the Owl’s own expedition had been there. Visenne says the escort knew nothing of that first visit, which is exactly what a commander’s confidante would arrange for the rest of the party. Whether Jean-Marie’s errand was only Isabel is unestablished, and she is unavailable to ask. See The Sanctum Investigation.
Speculation
Isabel would remember her. She was thirteen on that road, in the care of the woman her father trusted most, and she watched her die. Nobody has asked Isabel a single question about Jean-Marie — what she talked about, what she carried, whether she and Dalet ever spoke where a child could hear. It is the gentlest possible route into the hardest question the party has.
