What We Know (all GM)
- Held by the Comtesse de Touraine in her own right, wife of the rival claimant Guillaume de Fausseflammes.
- Spring 1733: Fausseflammes forces retreat here and are put under siege after Guillaume’s death.
- Fall 1733: negotiations for the surrender of Touraine — and the resolution of the whole civil war — collapse over Rincon d’Envers’s reputation.
- Winter 1735: the Comtesse’s daughters escape the siege, undetected at the time.
- Summer 1736: Touraine falls. The Comtesse kills herself rather than be captured. Her daughters are revealed to be guests of the Doge in Cardacci. The civil war in Averoigne is technically over.
Why It Matters
Two living claimants to the throne of Averoigne are sitting in Cardacci with a grudge and, presumably, their father’s accusation that Michel d’Envers murdered the rightful heir. That is a lever somebody will eventually pull.
