What We Know (all GM)
- Archprelate of Vyones, the capital of Averoigne — and therefore, by the structure of the Western Church, very likely one of the ten Arch Prelates of major dioceses who sit as Prelates Elector on the Divine Council.
- Key advisor to King Etienne de la Courcel.
- Late Summer 1731: supports the Michel d’Envers claim and performs the coronation, weeks after Etienne’s designated heir Marie-Celeste de la Courcel and named Regent Marc Abayante were assassinated, and after Guillaume de Fausseflammes had publicly accused d’Envers of the killings.
- He would have held a vote in the Spring 1734 convocation that elected Baldessare Malipiero Most Holy.
Why He Matters
The dead king’s own churchman legitimised the dead king’s overthrow. Of everyone in the Averoigne story, d’Allissy is the one whose motive is entirely unexplained — d’Envers wanted a throne, Fausseflammes wanted a throne, and the Archprelate wanted… something.
Speculation
Somebody had to decide, very fast and in public, that Etienne’s will did not bind. The Archprelate of the capital doing that within weeks of a mass assassination looks less like a man reacting to events than a man who knew which way to face.
