Doge of Cardacci since 1721 — the elected ruler of the West’s one stable power, and the host of the Daughters of Touraine.

What We Know (all GM)

  • Elected in 1721 as a compromise candidate among stronger aristocratic factions; has since earned a reputation for competent, effective government.
  • A veteran and hero of the Fifth Crusade (1715).
  • Foreign policy in one line: commit to nobody, stay strong, keep every relationship. He recognizes Rincon d’Envers as king of Averoigne while protecting the Daughters of Touraine — Rincon’s living rival claimants; recognizes all three Morschatti princes but none as king; prefers mediation, trade, hospitality, and leverage to territorial adventures.
  • His regime’s plague controls are notably draconian — the GM’s Halwa notebook uses “Falieri’s Cardacci regime” as the benchmark that the Harbormaster of Halwa exceeds.
  • Believed to favor cautious practical normalization of trade with Hazad — a commercial judgment, not religious reconciliation — though plague and Schism make rapid change unlikely. The Mercantilists would find him an interested counterparty.

Speculation

The man hosting Averoigne’s rival claimants also runs the West’s most Hazad-friendly trade policy — and his capital’s Archprelate became the Most Holy. Cardacci under Falieri touches almost every lever the party cares about in the West, always from the balanced middle. Worth knowing whether “compromise candidate turned twenty-year Doge” means genial broker or the most patient player in the room.
